Strawberry Cake

what you'll need:
1 package white cake mix
1 package strawberry-flavored gelatin powder
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup water
1 cup veggie oil
1 pound confectioners' sugar

What you do:
Combine cake mix and gelatin powder in a large bowl. Beat in oil, eggs and water Pour into two 9-inch round greased and floured cake pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and frost icing.

How to make the icing:
beat the butter and confectioners' sugar together until smooth. Spread between cake layers(if making on cake if making two cakes just to sides and top) then frost top and sides.

next time i'm going to try putting in fresh strawberries so that theres more flavor and might try some pineapple juice as well to create a pretty tropical looking cake and then i can decorate the top with fresh strawberries and pinapple slices. but it was not bad for the first try, i'm not much for baking =) that was always what nett did..

Fettuccine Alfedo

I made this for my family in Idaho and they have been wanting the recipe, so here it goes.

8 oz uncooked fettuccine
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Cook fettuccine. Meanwhile, heat butter and whipping cream over low stirring until butter is melted. Stir in cheese, salt and pepper. Drain fettuccine. Pour sauce over.

It's also good to add parsley, tomatoes and chunks of chicken. I don't always use fettuccine noodles, sometime I use elbow or penne.

Simple Sunday Stew

I devoloped this as a way to use our food storage-that's why everything's canned. Make sure you don't drain any of the cans before you add them, it makes the broth. You can also use fresh vegetables of course.

1 lb ground beef seasoned with garlic and onion to taste
1 can of sliced carrots
1 can corn
1 can potatoes-quartered
1 can of diced tomatoes-I use the ro-tell brand of "diced tomatoes and green chilis"
I can of cream of chicken soup
2 tsp. beef boullion

Mix all ingredients together in a large pot. Bring to a light boil. You can change this up anyway you like. Use a different kind of meat, add noodles, add whatever seasonings you like.
My family loves this and it's a great way to use all your canned vegetables.

Breadbowl Pasta

This is more an idea than a recipe. We got the Domino's ad the other day and their breadbowl pasta looks so good. So I tried to make my own. I just made the pizza dough and folded it up into a bowl shape and cooked it for about 8 minutes. Then I added some mac-n-cheese, that I had made and cooked it for a couple more minutes. It was really good! We want to try and make the Italian sausage marinara next.

Meatballs

1 1/2 cups chili sauce
1 cup grape jelly
1 to 3 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 pound beef
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons fine dry bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
rice

Combine chili sauce, grape jelly, and mustard in crock pot and stir well. Cook, covered, on high while preparing meatballs to bake.

Combine remaining meatball ingredients and mix thoroughly. Shape into 30 meatballs. Bake meatballs in a preheated 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes; drain will. Add meatballs to sauce, stir to coat, cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours. (I don't think it takes this long). Serve over rice. Very yummy!
